This publication "Life teaches" is a translation into English from the Swedish/Finnish collection of proverbs, comments and similar opinions. "Livet lär / Elämä opettaa".
Reserve for deficiencies in proofreading and translations.
The ways of expressing "the same thoughts" can vary greatly between the different languages, in terms of choice of words and formulation of sentences. Therefore, some translations may not fully reflect the original message in that original language.
When translating I often used a translator, "Google Translate". I tried to correct the apparently wrong translations as best I could. If you notice obvious errors in the text, I would be very grateful if you let me know about them to the email address "Info@livet-lar.se".
Purpose and description
The material consists of topics, which are mainly taken from various collections of quotations or opinions, which I have read or heard and to which I have added a whole lot of my own observations, reflections and conclusions.
The website contains a large number of all kinds of unsorted proverbs, observations and statements regarding people and other phenomena related to existence. The level of the proverbs is highly variable, in terms of their depth, resourcefulness or wit.
This website has been updated in 2025, with an attempt to group similar proverbs and other "observations" into the same subject groups. Some examples of subject groups could to be mentioned are: manners, relationships, success and power.
Proverbs are often perceived as clichés, before one has personally realized the message hidden in them. Proverbs, aphorisms are usually a kind of simile, which can be applied to completely different things and events.
That is why, I have reformulated a large part of the proverbs to apply to me, you or us. Maybe, it can be helpful for you to quickly figure out, what can be, the underlying message, the real intention.
The satirical and often ironic presentation of observations and statements combined with personal approaches (I, you and us) may perhaps be experienced by some as provocative.
The purpose of this collection of proverbs is to give reason for reflection and thought. Therefore, it is better that you read opinions in peace and quiet, and not too much at a time.
Among the "proverbs" there are several similar statements, however, these usually have a different angle, seen from a slightly different point of view.
I believe that many of these observations, wisdom and statements should be able to help you to better understand why people behave in certain ways in different situations. You could even use some of them as guidelines in your life.
In addition to this, you could also freshen up discussions with, in context appropriate, proverbs.
